Message of Dignity and Justice
June 8, 2020
I have been struggling with these recent events regarding injustice, inequality, and what recently occurred regarding George Floyd’s murder. I know that I am not alone in this embarrassment or fear of our future.
One year ago, I was received with open arms by the Stella Maris and Mercy Health Services family and I will continue to welcome others in the same manner. As the Sisters of Mercy before us, they left us with values of DIGNITY and JUSTICE to follow and live by. Together we will continue to pray for justice, peace, and healing while providing excellent clinical and residential services within a community of compassionate care and without regard for race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex.
We remain steadfast that in good times and during the most difficult times, Stella Maris is there to care for families – and now that commitment is more important than ever.
We are honored to join with physicians, nurses, and staff at hospitals across the country that will be doing the same as part of White Coats For Black Lives initiative.
Sincerely,
Regina Figueroa, LNHA, MHSA
