Pastoral Care Services at Stella Maris
The Pastoral Care Team is an integral part of Stella Maris and its mission. Team members include a priest, who serves as full-time director, and six additional chaplains, who provide a listening presence and spiritual support to all residents and patients in need.
Our team understands the unique importance of spirituality and works alongside each resident to help them focus on their individual beliefs as well as living each day with meaning and purpose.
The Stella Maris Pastoral Care Team serves the residents of our nursing home in Lutherville-Timonium, St. Elizabeth Hall apartment, Mercy Ridge and hospice patients.
Spirituality in Aging Adults
Spirituality is an important factor in the healing and recovery journey. Our chaplains offer expertise in exploring spirituality in a variety of ways including:
- Music
- A gentle touch
- Recitation of traditional prayers
- Singing a familiar song
- A trip to our beautiful on-site church
Stella Maris Pastoral Care Team Ministers to All Faiths
The Pastoral Care Team provides various meaningful religious experiences for the spiritual support and comfort of the residents, patients, families and staff. These may include, but are not limited to, Eucharistic liturgies, communion services, prayer services, and memorial services. Each chaplain is also actively involved in the overall care of the residents and patients.
Our ministry focuses on creating a welcoming atmosphere that enhances one’s quality of life. Chaplains are responsive to the particular needs of the individual and offer care for all patients including a special ministry for the terminally ill, following a hospice philosophy.
The compassionate care provided by members of the Pastoral Care Team focuses on four main goals:
- Ministry
- Religious services
- Resident and patient care
- Outreach
